December Newsletter: Celebrating 2022 and Beyond

A WORD FROM IRIS

We’ve made it through another year! I want to personally thank you for your commitment to creating and protecting justice within your workplaces, communities, and in your ways of being. I hope that the resources and food for thought from Social Justice Synergy have been helpful to your efforts. This time of year is complicated for many, but it can sometimes be an opportunity to pause and reflect. At SJS we’re reflecting on the great work we’ve witnessed and supported in our clients and partners over the past year. Regardless of whether we’ve worked together, I hope that when you take stock of your efforts, you like what you see emerging.

NEWS TO CHEW ON

Social Justice Synergy has been honored to work with amazing organizations in 2022, such as Bread for the City and the National Center for Transgender Equality, that are doing great work, both internally and out in the world. Highlights include:
ACLU DC’s Full Equity Audit and Strategic Planning process that will lead into their equity roadmap for the new year. California Coalition for Women Prisoners inviting us in to facilitate retreats centered on strategic planning and internal relationship building. Meyer Foundation’s affinity groups engaging SJS training to build trust and strengthen relationships, as a foundation for more equitable practices. Share Our Strength taking advantage of our training and educational courses, racial equity advising and EDI implementation support.

To those who have invited us into their organizations this year – THANK YOU for your trust and hard work.

FROM THE TOOLKIT

We know that the work of keeping justice and equity centered in our lives and workplaces is an ongoing commitment. Even with the best tools, skills, and wisdom at our disposal, this work is challenging without external support. Take time to reflect on the progress you’ve made, and consider our Retreat Facilitation services to keep you moving toward your goals in 2023 and beyond.

PAUSE FOR JOY

This time of year can be filled with so many different feelings — celebration, frustration, reflection, and so on. Remember to take time for yourself, pour love into those you care for, and notice all the points and possibilities for justice and liberation surrounding you. Sending well wishes for your new year from my family (more specifically, my Kwanzaa Kuumba baby 🙂)
